DECEMBER NEWSLETTER
-
As
predicted last month, Nickel jumped to $15.68 per pound average in
December up a buck a pound versus $14.5668 per pound in November.
Strong
stainless steel demand (which consumes two thirds of all nickel
mined) has spiked the pricing in the market place. Moly averages are
just slightly down. Stainless deliveries are 10 to 20 weeks
depending on the mill.
Carbon pricing has stabilized in the
market and mills are cutting back production to keep prices from
falling. Some carbon mills are beginning to include the
surcharge in their pricing structure. Mill lead times range from 6 to 8
weeks.
Have you heard? - Rumor has it that 2205
plate prices may increase an estimated 4-5% by months end. |
