JULY NEWS                                                                                                             

Summer temperatures may be rising but the forecast for August is bringing relief to stainless surcharges. Nickel prices are finally softening to the $9.00 dollar range. The Nickel average for June was $10.23 per pound versus May’s $11.67 per pound. The 304/304L surcharge for August will be $1.4857 per pound down about 10 cents from July.  June’s Moly and Chrome had upward pressure in price but the nickel will offset slight gains and decrease the August 316/316L to $2.3555 per pound. If nickel stays in the 9.00 dollar range, surcharges for September will be drop further.

 

Stainless lead times are 5 to 10 weeks depending on the material type and widths.

 

Carbon lead times are extending along with increase in price. Current carbon lead times for 516-70 and A36 are 12 weeks

Flanging is the process of spinning and hydraulic forming of a metal dish to the shape and style of the head ordered by a customer. The flanging machine forms the knuckle radius and straight flange. Brighton has machines that can flange material up to 2” thick.

Moving on up....The Construction Update

The higly anticipated new Brighton Sales building is nearing completion. The construction has been fast and furious on the 18 new offices and now interior work has begun. The plan to return the sales staff to our Sharonville, Ohio facility has been years in the making and now the biggest challenge will be moving Dave Schaefer's fish safely to our new office. The latest estimates are for a August or early September move. The phone and fax numbers will remain the same so the physical address will be the only contact information change at this time. We will keep you updated as the transition date gets closer.
