JULY NEWSLETTER
- As
predicted in the June newsletter, nickel has finally tumbled. Nickel
in the last 30 days has dropped to the $16.000 dollar level thus
giving the stainless surcharges a reality check. August
surcharges have dropped dramatically. The 304/304L surcharge
will decrease a whopping 39 cents to $1.89 per pound in August. The
316/316L surcharge will be $2.9864 per pound in August versus a July
number of $ 3.2931 per pound. The experts predict nickel pricing to
remain stable at the $16.50 range for a while. The LME inventory
remains high, but so does the world wide demand. See the nickel
graph below showing the last 2 months.
Stainless mill lead times are 6 to 12
weeks.
Carbon pricing
remains stable and lead times from the mill are approximately 5 to 8
weeks. |
