OCTOBER NEWS     

Trick or Treat?!?! Halloween is around the corner and the scariest ghouls this year seem to be coming from Wall Street. The market is up, it's down, it's all around and for most of us all we can do is just buckle up and keep our hands inside the ride until it comes to a complete stop. In the stainless market the nickel express is continuing to drop surcharges to the lowest levels seen in over a year. Nickel has tumbled to below $6.00 per pound. September nickel averaged $8.07 per pound versus $8.59 per pound in August. This will decrease the November 304/304L surcharge to $1.214 per pound. Moly remains neutral and the decrease of the November 316/316l surcharge is due to the nickel and chrome. The 316/316L surcharge for November is $1.9391 per pound versus Octobers $2.1414. So far this month Nickel is averaging $6.57 per pound and will have a dramatic effect in stainless pricing for the month of December. 
 
Stainless Mill lead times are 5 to 8 weeks.
Carbon Mill lead times are approx 8 weeks.
