SEPTEMBER NEWS

Temperatures are dropping, football Sundays are back and the leaves may not be falling yet but Nickel and Chrome prices are. August nickel averaged $8.59 per pound versus $9.1445 per pound in July. Chrome is down about 20 cents per pound. The 304/304L surcharge for October will be $1.2950 per pound. Moly prices in the month of August rose slightly but not enough to overcome the nickel and chrome decreases. The October 316/316L surcharge will be $2.1414 per pound versus $2.2686 per pound that it was in September.  Nickel looks to be even to up a little so far the month of September. This should keep November surcharges pricing somewhat the same as Octobers.

Stainless mill lead time continue to be 5 to 10 weeks dependent on the mill.

Carbon mill lead times are approx. 12 weeks

BRIGHTON'S BRIGHTEST

GOOD LUCK, NOT GOODBYE

One of the hardest working men in the industry, Doug Stone is retiring this month. The years of experience, dedication and personality that Doug brought to work everyday will be irreplaceable. Doug began his career in the steel business in 1961 as a scheduler for Williams and Co. Steel Service Center. During his tenure at Williams Doug worked his way up to Sales Manager and Plate Specialist. While learning the business by day Doug also worked at night to earn his Bachelors Degree in Accounting as well as a Masters degree from Xavier University. In 1994, Doug joined the Enerfab sales team in the head division. From the days of hand written estimates to the instant email communication of today, Doug has witnessed a lot of changes over the last 47 years of his career. While technology and global markets may have altered the business environment, Doug’s commitment to service has never waivered. When everyone else has called it a day, Doug can usually be found still in his office quoting away.

When asked what Doug will miss most when he leaves, he responded, “As usual, it will be the people, both coworkers and customers. I have been fortunate enough to meet a lot of interesting people over the years.” He also wanted to acknowledge and thank his coworkers for all their hard work and management for always rewarding the efforts. Never one to be content just sitting around, Doug has plans lined up already for retirement. He plans on volunteering for the Red Cross disaster relief team. He is also looking forward to hitting the road with his wife Margaret in their RV. So while we will all certainly miss having him here in the head division, we wish him all the best on his well deserved retirement.

Congrats and Good Luck Doogal! Enjoy it to the Fullest!
